The wife and I headed out for the husband/wife fishing on Saturday. I knew where some good fish were and hoped they would bite. Things started off slow, slow, slow.... The wind was blowing pretty steady and the cloud cover was thick. We might have had 5 total fish caught and 1 keeper by 9:30 or 10:00 am. Then all of a sudden the wind laid down, changed direction slightly, and the sun started to break through a little.... and the crappie turned the switch! It was on fast and furious in the same spots we had fished for the past 3 hours with no success. It ended up being my best day this year with 31 big keepers and probably 50-60 throwbacks.

Also while fishing I saw a big fish on the SI. I knew if that fish hit my jig we were going to have a fight. About that time a pole on my wife's side of the boat doubled over and the fight was on. When we finally got the fish to the boat it surfaced and was the biggest long nose gar I have ever seen. It had to have been 10 lb or better. It gave up a real good fight on 6 lb test and an ultralight pole/reel.

To God be the glory!
