Double take on the dink

I have caught a whole bunch of crappie so far in life, but never one like this. This was a short fish so I started to unhook it and noticed something did not look quite right.
Here is a pic of it.



Not sure waht happened , but the damage was healed and the fish looked fine.

BTW if you look real hard in the background in the water is a stake bed that me and my buddy caught 20 or so keepers out of over the course of 2 days, not to mention this amputee.

What color jig them nader crappie like when it that muddy? Probably anything this time of year.

from the looks of it he is using white.

Just about any color I think. Every body I saw was using different colors. That was my buddies rig in the pic. He wanted to try some yankee contraption. He never even used it. I think I shamed him out of it, well me and everybody who saw that rig was like " what the H@## is that thing ??? followed by a "Where are you from Boy?"
BTW, that water is not very muddy at all. Some of the cleanest water I have fished in a while.

It cleared up fast....It was horrible last weekend! After Fri. we gave up on trying to fish Sat.
