Someone explain the differences between....

One of these days im going to have enough pocket change saved to come fish with yall. I can show yall how NOT to LL troll Rofl but we can have some fun anyway.

Friday we were fishing in 5 fow with maybe 20' of line in the back and 40' or less in front at 1.5mph with single 1/16 jig .

As they go deeper let more line out and slow the boat down. (.7 to 1.5) 1 mph is a where i normally fish untill they get real shallow. we fish 18 poles, man it's fun when that hybrid runs through every one of em. banghead
I use the southern pro grubs and litewire hooks as well. Double rigged a lot when there deeper. #5 reusable splitshot to help get em down too. 1/16 , 1/24, 1/32 round, minnow head or pony jigs. I keep saying im going to spider rig and never do it just stuck in rut with LL.

I LL 99% of the time as well, and from the front of the boat using a driftmaster T bar rod holder, with one rod out each side of the boat. The coves I LL in are narrow, so I don't deal with the 8 rods as I can't make the turns with 8 rods out. I reel both rods in when I turn and throw 'em back out on the return trip. My speed is anywhere from .7 up to 1.2 mph, all the info in gabowman's reply is spot on. Adjusting the speed of the boat will move the jigs up or down in the water column a bit. Some LL with 2 rods, but you can use however many rods the regulations allow in your state, either from the front, the sides or the back of the boat. It really depends on how you want to do it and where your rod holders are, will fit, as you need rod holders just like in SR. I use the same set up when pulling CB's as well, just different rods.

Great info Gabow. Nice setup you have on that boat!Seems like a crappie would be real eager to hit a jig or bunch of jigs as opposed to a much larger crankbait.I look forward to giving it a try this year.Do you use mono or braid?

GABowman nailed it. Consistency is the key. Don't be afraid to zig zag while pulling to some times you will find they bite when turning. Take note of which side. If on the inside of the turn, they are a little deeper or you need to slow down. If on the outside, you need to shallow up or speed up.

I will add this to what Gabowman said. Where I fish most of the time, Greers Ferry Lake, the fish supend in or just above the standing pole timber that was not cut when the lake was built. So I try to troll my jigs just above them but I do get hung a lot so I use Prower Pro braid 20/6 on all my rods. I use my rods that I pull cranks with when longlining but I don't use my line counter reels. Some else said some thing about the hybrids and whites being fun, boy can they make a mess. They are the reason I usually only pull 1 jig per rod some when they tangle 4 or 5 rods together you can get some of them apart without cutting and relying all of them. I use the same rod holders that I pull cranks with also. For those that have not seen my boat I have driftmasters mounted on the grab rail on each side. In my opinion the I-Pilot is a must. Get to the speed you want hit the cruise control button, follow a recorder track or use the auto pilot and you can land you fish without have to try and control the boat.

I use Hi-Vis 6 # line. The reason I like Hi-vis is so I can see which way the fish is pulling and can work it away from other lines which can cause tangles if you just let it happen. Also I can see my other lines and it makes it easier to cast a rod back out after catching a fish. All of my lines are @ 2' apart. I should mention...for the most part, I fish clear bottoms in the lakes I fish.
