    Default Butla 3-18-2012

PUt 27 in the boat, Kept 9,lost 4 pigs by not having a net, caught 6 bass, that I released, and a bream that was not as big as my jig/minnow. Had to help out a fellow fishermen with boat trouble. Started towing a feller from almost the 304 bridge over Hurricane Creek to the North Imbutment. Took over 2 hrs. Was just getting a pattern going on these crappie but had to help a fellow fisherman in need. Oh well, there will be another day. Also as you can see, these fish are full of color and most were heading for that total black color!Water temp reached 72.3 before day end. They are fixing to spawn!Better hit them now before the Corp pulls all the water off them! Butla 3-18-2012 006.jpg (42.3 KB)

Met a guy down there that had just come off back surgery and was fishin on pain pills. Doctor hadn't released him to do anything physical yet, but he sure was catchin the heck out of some fish.He pulled up on a laydown that I thought I had worked over pretty good and pulled 3 fish off it in just a few minutes. I had to find out what he was using and it was a clear jig with so much Silver glitter when the sun hit it, it reflected light in all directions. He held it barely under the surface and it was cuttin up!The only thing that I had that I had remotely close was a pearl white with small glitter. It seemed to work pretty well also. I was fishing a Arkie tinsel jig with a dark red head and chartruse hair body but hadn't done much good on it. That's what those green carp I caught was hittin!!Another boat came in with 35 keepers.I got to talking to him about the Alabama Rig and come to find out a buddy of his just broke the Tn. state record for largemouth by catching a bass over 14lbs at Pickwick on that Alabama rig! Some of the other pics he had were very impressive of fish that rig caught! No crappie pics though! He said he used it for suspended fish mostly! All in all it was a good day! Of those 9 fish I filleted, 7 were males and 2 were females.
