Get you one of them cheap little dip net that they use for trout fishing. The kind you can clip on your waders and it has an elastic cord inside the handle. It will save you a lot of time and trouble when handling fish.

Beat piece of advice of hard learned advice I can give you is that when wading:
There is always, always, always more than one fish there when you catch one. Don't assume you caught the only fish on a particular stump. Force yourself to fish that stump or whatever for at least 5 more minutes before moving on and preferably 10. That fish was there for a reason, not haphazardly. And if you caught him there, either he will have company or you can leave it and another fish will take its place. I'm very, very inexperienced at wading an even I have caught 11 fish while standing in the same boot tracks.
Second thing: sometimes, the stick and hold is what they want. A Dead still jig will on occassion tick off a crappie intent on spawning that spot while with a moving jig, they'll hunker down and let pass.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

I painted up some jig heads last night and was going through my box and found some skirts that a fella on Grenada gave me at the ramp last year. This ought to be one heck of a combo for jigging. LOTS of movement in this skirt with very little twitching the rod tip. I'm determined to learn to jig fish this year. I've really never done it so when ya'll talk about the thump, I've never really had that hapen. I've put a rod in each hand and slow trolled in the winter just so I could feel when they were hitting it cause it was so light but never had one try and take the rod out of my hand like I hear about

Your going to need a bigger board . Put you a hand full of body's in your pocket . Let your regular ole fish string drag be hind you . Bottle of water in your pocket . You will either catch them and not worry about food or drink or be back at the truck before you get thirsty .
CATCH THEM ALL.
