You could just take the fitting out and plug it. get rid of crimped hose and clean the area up. And thank you for the paint program, ive been playing with it. I always wanted to know how that was done.

Do you have a water pressure guage? If so its disconnected. If not....then you can do away with that hose.....take the elbow out and screw a plug in in its place. That is not the speedometer hose I don't think as the ones I have seen are internal inside the leg of the engine. It looks like the water pressure line to me.
I would just remove that elbow and plug it then and get rid of the crimped hose if you want it to look better.....if not, leave it like it is as its been working for Hugh.

That motor might have been on another boat at one time.

Your right, Thanks wilbur.....its internal from the elbow down to the port in the foot.........thats what I was thinking about I guess. Been awhile since I fooled with a Mercury.
