Crappie Logic makes some fine hand tied stuff, including gnats. But my choice of plastics has just recently changed. I used to use the tubes and curly tails, but I have had very good luck with the Slab Bandits here lately. Jokers Wild is my favorite so far, but the black/chart monster is a close second. I still use the tubes & curly tails some. The Capps & Coleman glow tubes are good and the black/blue/chart curly tail is very good.

I like the Slab Bandits because they are bigger than the other shad bodies. Give em a try.

What's the size on those slab bandits--I like to use the biggest thing I can (within reason)

They're comin out with a 2 3/8" one. The ones I have are 2", but they're fatter than a bobby garland and they got a real tail.
