    Default Mounting Hi-Tech rod holder

I will have a Hi-Tech rod holder on the way soon. Can anyone give me some advice on the best place to mount a rod holder on a G3 PF175 boat. The PF version of the G3 has a floor that is slightly sunk down and it angles up toward the bow where your feet are. Then there is a flat aluminum area at the very front that the trolling motor is mounted to. I believe i need to somehow mount the Hi-Tech on this angled plywood part of the deck. Is it ok for it to be mounted at a slight angle and just adjust the holders accordingly or do I have to rig it somehow to where the holder will be perfectly upright? Anyone have a picture of how they mounted theirs on a boat like this? Sorry if a dumb question.

I'd mount it on the flat plywood and If at all possible, instead of the screws, use bolts, flat washers and nylocks. If u really need to mount on the angle to get them further away from your seat, I'll bet Scott could custom fan an upright to match the angle.

If you mounted them on the slope, the top would end up about in the same spot from the seat as if you mounted flat just behind the slope but not look as good. Unless you cut the upright and mounted on the slope so the mount would be vertical. Measure the degree of slope and have Scott weld them that way as wannabe said. There is probably 0 to 5 degree slop in the mount depending how you tighten them up.

Thanks for the responses. Sorry I'm new. Who is Scott? I had planned to order it from Grizzly. Is there somewhere else I should get it from(Scott)?

Scott is Scott Echols aka hi-tekstuff.com. You can PM him here, he goes by callshy on here and is great to work with and doing custom work for folks.

    But he's ugly.

I went out and looked at it again. I think maybe I could mount it on the flat part and just put it out close to the edge of the boat away from my feet (a g3 is a little narrow up front). The rod spacing won't be ideal but I suppose I should and will get a second holder eventually for the other side of the boat.

Thanks for your help guys. I think I'll suck it up and order 2 sets and mount them close to the edges like IHumphre did above.

Anthony--Keep in mind your trolling motor when mounting. You dont want to have to take down your rod holders every time you raise your TM to move spots.

Another option is mount ONE directly in middle front of boat. have scott make you a longer HORIZONTAL bar where you put rod holders if you fish 2 people.
