That's Mr and Mrs Goodtime in the pic above. He was good enough to come over today to look at my trailer and help me with it. i.e. he did all the work and I stood out of the way and agreed with everything he said.

Basically, the boat originated out of IL and from normal use got some rock pecks on the paint here and there. Well, with the road salt up there the pecks started rusting the paint and bubbling it up pretty good in spots. To me, I thought some metal might need replacing but Goodtime said all was sound. That it just needed cleaning up with an angle grinder and wire wheel and repainted which he did with a can of spray paint. It looked so good, we changed the plan to clean the trailer with denatured alcohol and will remove the fenders to get at some additional bad spots and repaint the whole dang thing. Then imma replace the basscat logos here and there and forgo the pin striping altogether.

Heres a couple of after shots didn't have any of the really bad before pics but you can see on the cross member some of the lighter pecks with rust.

The boy is an artist with a can of krylon.

Thanks Goodtime for all the help today!!!

The plate I got from EZ Poleholder. Then a biddy of mine up here tapped it to mount the TM to and drilled for setting to the boat. I pulled it from the Champ. When I did, the motor guide mounnting isolators were an issue on the champ. All had lose Ed some and one had broke. Remounted new ones on the cat but this time followed them with stainless washers and nylocks. They may loosen, cut will not be able to fail.

The plate was made last time so I could mount it forward to clear the boat and get 4 solid bolts in the champ. On the cat, I could have skipped the plate, but it gave me a better mounting position and I was able to get 6 mounting bolts in. The plate is 1/2 inch solid aluminum.

So in short form , you do not have to have plate to mount a 101 Right or wrong

I mounted a 101 on my Stratos, with the help of EZ and Major, without using a plate.

I originally got my pd mounted direct but don't like the way I have it and my cover doesn't work as well--so Im looking at using a plate so I can take the TM off easily. And Im gonna refine the position.
