Scott, I have a couple poppers with buck tails on their rear hook... I think their "Rebel Pop R's"

Thing is these dont swim like a crank bait... I'm sure you already know all this though.
There's a lot of physics in how a crankbait runs. Weight has to be added to the bait in just the right places or the bait will just spin. I've gotten some cheap crankbaits from China and also some unfinished cranks from places like Janns Netcraft that look great, but I can't get them to run right no matter what I do. Some of the baits I've been painting run best with a #4 hook on the front and a #6 on the rear.
That's what I was sayin about not seeing this on cranks, just popers
