Weird, but I can see some of them now.
Anyhow, that first pic of SI shows exactly what I'm experiencing with HD SI. On the bird SI, note you can make detail all the way to the left edge of the pic out to 100', but on the HD SI next to it, you only get detail for the first 50' or so. I'm consistently seeing that and while the detail is superb, I'm missing 1/2 the pic. I keep thinking it's a setting or something, but there is no denying the the Bird allowed me to see further at a given depth.

That is real interesting. I remember you mentioning that a while back. I wonder if it is due to the angle the crystals are aimed or just the power is real high in the center and it washed everything else out? I bet it would work better in deeper water.. Is that true?
I think it has to do with the angle of the signal, in my opinion. Nothing I do seems to clear it up very much although running the contrast up helps to a point. Dunno...but I didn't go HDS for SI. Maps, DI and 2D are.
Here's da rub on your pics above...they're all in really deep water except the first pic and that is concrete which gives very good signal return. In my experience....20ft or less 90% of the time and 10' or less 40% of the time, ya just ain't gonna get them kind of pics.

You are right.. The DI is much better with HDS since is has dedicated crystal. The 2D..probably so.. The Maps... from what i have heard they are much better. I have not seen them. I keep hoping HB will get some lakemaster maps for the Southern states... I can hope right? ha.
So do you use your DI and 2D the majority of the time? I get really good SI pictures in 10 to 20 feet of water with the HB. I mainly only use SI. I use 2D and DI to get fish depth and DI helps distinguish the fish better than 2D... other than that.. I never use 2D or DI.

A'ite Shane....that's a seriously whacked out color scheme right there. I don't care who ya are. I must have missed the Andy Warhol color pallete option in the menu. Bwahahaha.
2GobbleBuckshot, Normally, I run the 8 up front when spider rigging with all 4 screens showing. I pick and choose where I get info and scan all the screens for anything interesting. I also frequently watch the 2D (front ducer, then as I move forward, watch the DI to compare the images produced. I'm always scanning SI for anything worthy of turning the boat for and watching the maps as well.
