I am glad you made out so well, but I have a question. With the evidently high crime rate down there, how do you pack around all that equipment (which is a great idea I might add), and still have it in the truck for when you need it? Sounds like a lot of stuff to be able to keep out of site and locked up?
Tool box Tall Timber. It's packed to the gills, but still some equipment that I'd like to have but don't have room for. Bad need to get a spare hub assembly. That's going to bite me one of these days, but I've always got something else I can spend a couple of benjamins on.
I just don't carry high dollar tools. The most expensive thing in there is 4 cans of Seafoam. The rest is chinese Harbor Freight junk, but it gets me out of a lot of jams.

Had a friend do the same thing with a 29 foot, bumper pull travel trailer. Left his house heading for the river 30 miles away. Just two miles from the campsite he heard a thump and a scraping noise. Looked behind and saw his camper sitting in the middle of the road with the ball hitch still attached. Looked and no pin. Looked in bed of truck and there was the pin. He pulled that thing over 25 miles before it came apart. No safety chains. He was lucky. No damage. Except to his pride.
That's good thinking. I try to carry anything I might need as well. I have an old top on my truck that I've been thinking of taking off. I don't know if I could find a big enough tool box to put it all in though. The out-of-sight element of a topper, even an old rough one that doesn't lock, is hard to beat. Also keeping snow and ice off stuff in the winter is nice.Quote:
