    Default How Long would it take


    to run from Pickwick to say Meridian in a boat?

    It took me and my dad right 2 days to make Columbus on our pontoon but it didn't go very fast.
    I don't know how your going to make it to meridian by boat tho the TN Tom by then is way over in AL.
    If the fish aren't bitting just remember your not at work ! :D

    Demopolis, AL is as close as you could get to Meridian. From Demopolis, north you would lock through at Gainesville, Alliseville, Columbus, and I'm not sure above that.

    Sorry I meant Columbus, Would like to ride and maybe camp one night along the way.

    Well from Columbus to aberdeen takes about 20 minutes. From Aberdeen to the lock at Amory, MS is about 15 minutes. Not sure from Amory north. My times are running at 40 mph.

    But you have to catch the locks. Tugs have first priority. You can figure 30-45 minutes in each lock. You may sit 2 hours before they do anything.

    They lock every two hours. Barges do have priority tho. Some are on even hours and some on odd. Think every other lock is on the same times. They ain't that busy and they'll get ya thru purty quick.

    I don't know about the 2nd thing I don't remember waiting more then 15-30 mins I know you got the bay springs lock there is one just south of bay springs then another just south of it and we didn't go thru the one at columbus.
