I've sent War Eagle an email expressing my opinion of their #8 wire, and Minn Kota an email expressing my opion of their requiring me to provide a 50 amp circuit; yet they only provide a 40 amp circuit on their end.

My bad....your right...MinnKota reccomends the 60 amp breaker on the 80 lb. 24 volt motor like I have.

I used the Minn Kota Mkr-19 60A breaker on my 24volt Terrova. I also ran 6 gauge wire from the front to the back. I spliced directly to the lead #8 wires on the terrova and ran it straight to my batteries and breaker. I did not put a plug anywhere on the line because I could not find one that have 6 gauge wire and was rated for the 46 amp draw. The plugs are also expensive and I don't plan on taking the motor off my boat.

The 60 inch shaft is a MUST to me since I am using an aluminum boat and fish by myself alot. This weekend I had to put the motor all the way down to keep it in the water. The wind was rough. I wouldn't have been able to fish if I have a 45" shaft.
