Mr. Jim sounds like you pulled a DB Cooper before?
Years ago me and a buddy were deer hunting at Sardis. Walking in a creek near the old iron bridge. Water 2" deep, clear as gin and a sandy bottom. We were right beside each other. He sinks waste deep before I could turn around. It took all I had to help pull him out of it. I am surprise someone hasn't just disappeared in one of those things. Glad you worked your way out.
Had older gentleman tell me this week about his experience at Sardis wading one year. He stepped off this point and instantly sunk up to his armpits. He said he was kicking and almost panicking trying to get out. He said he was sinking deeper every time he moved...he said just as he was fixn to go under a guy nearby in a boat shot up in there and he grabbed side of boat and he said that was the last time he ever waded. He said nobody would have ever found his body....just disappeared.. he told me to be very careful with this low water...it has exposed a lot of these old sloughs that have been under water for so long and are so silted and mudded up that you can disapppear in them! This has been a huge eye opener for me.
This thread has saved me about a hundred $$. Don't see waiding in my future.
Nope.....I'm not gonna wade either
Glad ya ok bud and see your a Bear Grylls.fan. i saw that show
Was at Grenada habitat day one time on a 4-wheeler during low water. Went across a mud puddle a little bigger than a bathtub and was in mud up to the top of the fenders instantly. This is a big 4wd 4-wheeler w/ swamplites on it too. Remember that Stan? :)
