I know several folks who use the head supports but I've watched mine both running down the road and on the lake in rough water & don't see any reason for one. 54" shaft.

Hey guys, I feel like it needs some support because I didnt like the stress it put on the base mounted to the front of my boat. Now it's steady as a rock. I have made several of these and they have all been a little different because of going on different style boats. Most popular is with an an aluminum plate screwed to the rim of the boat with a tiedown attached. See photo. You guys can make this or I can. oopps, it's sideways....

I just finished installing my terrova and am making a support for it now will start a thread tonight with picks of how I made it
This is what I use for mine. Trust me, it ain't going no where.:D
I have Hi-Techs and I replaced the bolt that holds the stand to the base with an I bolt I wrap a bungee around the Shaft and secure to the I bolt It takes some of the shake out.
E-Z Poleholder is making a shaft holder. Give him a shout.
I like that EZ. I think it needs some kind of support.
