    Default Trolling Motor Battery question

i have a 12 volt trolling motor. Currently i have just one battery than runs it. In moderate wind, it will last about 3 hours or so and i switch it to another battery. If i connect the 2 batteries in parellel would it make the battery last longer than the 3 hours? or what would be the best thing to do instead of getting a 24 volt trolling motor?

Connecting 2 batts of the same size will double your trolling time theoretically. There are some variables, such as how old your original battery is etc, but yes, it will give you much more run time before it wants to take a nap.

If possible, use the same size and brand battery for the second one. Not much you can do about the age difference.

Which will last longer- a 70 lb. 24v trolling motor with two batteries or a 55 lb. 12v trolling motor with two batteries?

With the same batts...the 55 lb with 2 batts. Reason being, the 55 lb will draw less current than the 70. Assuming the 12V was a 70# also, the 24V version would last longer, but you'd need a slide rule to calculate the difference.
