    Default Rez - 2/18/11

Took off work Friday to fish. I just couldn't stand it any longer. The temperature and wind was going to be perfect. I started off around Rose's Bluff. Found a good many pre-spawn fish staging near the river channel. I single poled the area for a little while and picked up a few small fish. Then I got word they were catching some around 43 bridge so I ran up there to give long lining a try. I have been trying to long line for a while now. I think this is my 6 or 7 time I have tried it. So far, I had been unsuccessful.. but Friday that changed. After a few tips from a buddy... I finally caught my first crappie long lining... Well my first seven crappie long lining. Over all it was a pretty good day. Still real slow. I ended up with 13 fish for the day and I fished till 5 pm. At one time I thought I had a monster crappie. I could feel the head shakes and the fish was real heavy. It ended up being a monster goo... LOL

Good job doubleg. Keep that single pole handy cause the spawn is very near. My dad caught some this past weekend in 2 fow.

That's a good mess Zack, glad you are getting the long-lining down, I saw a couple of our guys (team BnB), catch a few Saturday, long-lining.

That is awesome Lunker... I like to single pole. Especially around structure. But if I am in open water I want to troll... I look forward to the spawn. This will be my first year fishing the spawn. Hope to tear them up!!!!

You planning on long-lining the spawn?

I would like to long line pre-spawn holding areas for sure. Once they get close to the bank I will probably go with single pole. It would be neat to run the spillway longlining as close to the rocks as I could get but I know boats are going to be everywhere....
