    Default Prop question

When I bought my new rig last summer I noticed it will jump out the hole but the top end is down a good bit compared to my dads boat and my RPM's are a tad bit high. Im running a 2010 Nitro X5 with a 90 2 stroke Merc. Not sure what size prop Ive got on it as I haven't pulled it off to check yet. I was wondering for you guys with a 90 Merc what is your prop pitch?

Pitch is usually stamped on the side of the prop. Prop shop can put some "cup" in the blades to give you better wot.

Gewber....you ought to be pulling that prop twice a year and checking for line anyhow. Should be stamped on the barrel, but som will be stamped on the interior of the hub. How many rpms you turning at WOT? You probably are over propped, or at least under loaded compared to the standard boat rigging. You is a itty bitty fella ain't ya? Your cheapest solution is like Maj said - custom work at a custom shop. Next would be pulling your prop, selling it and getting a good used one of a different mfg and or different pitch. Prop shop would be more help than we will be in an educated guess at what might work best.....so go pester them instead of us. Pffft.

Well its more fun perstering you WB hehehehehe. I know its stamped on the side I jsut havent pulled it off to look at it. Im turning 6200 RPM's at WOT which I feel is a tad bit high, Ive always turned 5500ish at WOT on all my other rigs.

Yep, you about a good 500 too high. Rule of thumb says 1" pitch for every 500, so I'd step up some and stay outta WOT until you do. You're killing the longevity of the motor running it over recommended max and not doing it any favors running it on the high side of the recommendation. Surprised as new as yours is that it doesn't have a rev limiter in it.

Well I think it does because It will run at 62ish then kick down to 6000 then back up then back down

Yep, that's the limiter. Now quit doing that. You'll go blind.

A 19" Turbo - Stainless will work nicely on your 90.:D

Try a 21P three blade or 20P four blade. The three blade is better for hole shot but 4 blade might give more mph.
