Scott you are getting this painting down pat. You could probably get a side job teaching DD how to do it without duct tape being involved.
I watched a guy do some custom airbrushing one time and he would use a plain ole business card to do straight edges with a fade off to one side and if he wanted a real straight line he would use two post-it notes to layout his line
Quick go by stock in Office Max & Office Depot because they will be overcome with crazy crainkbait painting addicts !!!
