When I am repainting, I cover the eyes with small sticky dots. It saves one more step. If you have to redo eyes, use a dowel (anything round) about the size of the eye you want. Dip it lightly in the paint and touch the lure, holding straight up. With a little practice, you can make perfect round eyes. Works for jig heads too.
