Man, that is too cool. How many jigs and crank paint jobs do you need for that side scan? LOL

I didn't catch a fish last friday but ran across some big schools of fish. Not sure if they are crappie or not since i couldn't get them to bite a crankbait. They were schooled up in the flats near a small channel. All the bait fish were suspended above the channel.
Do you think these are crappie? What would be the best technique to catch them if they are? Spider rigging? I might go back this weekend and see if they are still there and give them another try. Might just need to get my crankbaits deeper since it appears they are about 16 feet deep or deeper.

Dude! Put the crankbaits away! I done tolt all you gewbers a hunnert times....MINNERZ!
Really though, you might catch a couple on cranks this time of year but I don't think it is what you should be doing. To me, the fish become somewhat lethargic in the winter time with the cold temps. For me, that means slowing down, way down, spider rigging minnows or jigging deep cover. But what do I know, I hardly ever catch a fish.![]()

Well Now. Here are the first two. I would slow troll off this ledge until I caught about 5 of the small catfish then I would be convinced they are not crappie and move on.
