My daughter-in-law's nephew did not make it.

RIP SFC Charles Sadell
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

Sgt. 1st Class Charles M. Sadell (Friends called him CJ), 34, of Columbia, Mo., died Oct. 24 at National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., of wounds suffered Oct. 5 at Arif Kala, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. (Five others in his unit died that day.) He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, N.Y.

He told us last time we saw him that this was his last tour. He'd already been on two tours in Iraq. He leaves behind a wife and two sons. One is a kindergartener and one is in third grade.
