Default Dock shooting with an Ugly Stik

I have never done any dock shooting as there are none on Okatibbee but may have to learn. Most of my short rods are left over bass rods which are fairly stiff. However I do have a couple of short Ugly Stiks in spinning, a 5'6" and a 6'. I was wondering if they would be any good to shoot docks? I have plenty of spinning reels as I use to use them on my spider-rigging poles before going to all level winds. Any tips on getting started?

Most folks use a 5 and a half ft. light action rod.....you have to bend the rod ( similar to shooting a bow. You basically grab your hook or bait while holding the rod sideways or horizontal and pull or bow the rod and you turn loose of the hook and your line at the reel the reel at the same time and shoot your rig up under the dock. Its a very good way to get a hook in your hand.....thats why I just side arm cast or back hand cast up under docks instead....just a lot easier for me.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

An Ugly stick should work fine for dock shooting. I have one too but no docks to shoot.

We needed that Don King wig with us out on the water, it would have went good with Scott's green face.

I used my ugly stick last year at Eagle Dock shooting. First time I'd ever done it and I actually caught a few. Just be careul on where you grab the hook to fling it out there. OUCH
