After he gets his boat fixed......he needs to invest in a GPS so he will know where he is. Good thing he had a cell phone.

Went to the ramp at Clear Creek late thursday afternoon and watched a game warden tow in a stranded fisherman.Seems the guy had called 911 but could not tell them his location on the lake or even which ramp he had used to launch his boat. The man was from Olive Branch and had put in at Beach Point but apparently never been on Sardis. The game warden was mad at the corps because they had called him instead of launching one of their boats. The corps did show up to take the man back to his truck and trailer. This guy was lucky in that they found him before dark and the wind was dead calm.

Surely dont need to be on any water you arent familiar with without a GPS system.

Can't imagine how someone could get lost on Sardis? It's not that big. Pickwick, Norfork or Bull shoals, I can see.

I don't really think he was lost....I think his boat just quit running and when the 911 operator asked him for his location on the lake....he could not tell her. Evidently he did not know the names of the creeks etc. Thats where a good lake map is handy.

i agree with yall, i have been from the dam all they to highway 7 with no map or gps and actually no cell phone(its been years ago) and never had a problems. Now i have all 3 and dont get on the water w/o atleast a map of the lakes i feesh on. Glad he got found though.
Now that woulda been a bad feeling.:o Back before GPS, as far as I knew, I thought I was lost in the swamp on Santee Cooper. Everything started looking alike in all those cypress trees. Glad I found open water when I did. Wouldnt want to be lost in something like that at night.![]()
He dialed 911 simply because he had boat issues???
