Wow that is messed up. Wish they would have shown the bigger picture of the problem (i.e. the hole and level it will have to be drained)

Well there's one sho nuff way to NOT get it done, and that's to wait for the Government to fix it. Follow the money. Find out who stands to gain the most by this absurdity and you'll have your answer.

I would imagine it'll all work out when the winter rains kick in. We're in a drought right now and if we get any rain at all, it'll fill back up. Georgia had the same problem 2 years ago during a drought. Some lake was down like 40 feet but it's back up since

I'M calling BS on this one. Dewatering/Well pointing is the only way to complete a project like this. Anytime you are near a body of water or excavating to a depth that will penetrate the water table it must be done. This was planned from the start and did not just SUPRISE the contractor like the guy said. Every lake in this region is WELL below normal level due to lack of rain. PROPORGANDA!!

    CONSPIRACY THEORY !!!!!!!!!
T.W.R.A. For many many years has been trying to draw down Reelfoot Lake, they claim they need to draw it down for the settiments to dry up. Lawsuits have kept theme from succeeding . I guess thay found them a way around the law suits by claiming the spilllway projects was in jeopardy of flooding. So they pumped the water out of the ground instead of the lake. JUST SAYING !!!!!

I agree. I'm sure that the pumping is not helping but to say that it is draining Reelfoot is silly. Reelfoot is low because it has rained about a .5 in since July. I have a duck blind that is not on Reelfoot and you can drive a four wheeler to it. This blind is in a swamp and water is usually knee deep this time of year on a dry year.
