but what is the story on open carry in MS. I think CC is $100 plus $32 for finger-printing the 1st time and then $50 plus the $32 after that for a 5 year permit. I have been told you can carry uncovered in your truck with-out the CC permit but from some reading it seems to be a gray law. Would it just depend on who stopped you? Guess to be safe you need a CC permit.

Supposedly, in Ms, you can carry in the open without a permit. I have asked police officers about this and most are unsure whether it is legal or not.

Your vehicle though, is a whole different matter. You are allowed to have loaded fire arms in your vehicle in Ms. According to the castle law, your vehicle is an extension of your home.

So the open carry or CC pertains to carrying the weapon on your person? No need for a CC permit to have one in your vehicle.

I have carried one for over 40 years in my vehicle and on my person without a permit.......no problems. I would rather pay a fine than be unprotected and I do not want a permit because that just gives big brother more information. Also...with a permit you are still limited as to where you can carry it.....so its kinda danged if you do and danged if you don't. If you carry it right etc. no body will ever know and therefore permit un neccessary. Just be sure you do not carry where there are metal detectors etc. Use your head and behave yourself and you will be OK.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
