    Default Jig and spider rigging

I've got 6 B & M jigs poles and love them. They have enough backbone to handle anything I've had on my line and that includes a 6 pound bass that Nessa caught this spring to some 4 pound Grinnell. Then when Spider rigging, I can see the lightest taps on the rod.Questions is, in a 12 and 14 foot model for spider rigging and being able to hold a 3/4 to 1 oz weight, what rod would YOU BUY. I've seen alot of talk about the Ozarks and Sam Heatons but never a specific model, just the name. What other rods are kick butt for this as well. DON'T SAY wally Marshall. LOL Hate those things, and they are the only rods I've ever had the tips break on me SO FAR. Think it was 3 or 4 over just a couple months time

Sam Heaton IS a specific model by BnM.

Well, I've got some brand new Pro Staff Trollers andt hose will handle anything you throw at them. They are sensitive, but not as sensitive as Ozarks or Sam Heatons of course. They are sticks and will handle any fish with ease though.

Fished with Feelay's Capps and Colemans this weekend. Dang they were light action. Still had some heft to work the fish though but a really, really fast tip. Any waves and they move ALOT. That's part of their design though. Had more than one fish man handle me and go where they wanted because I'm not used to them. Also set the hook fairly frequently on a non-existant fish. Feelay didn't have that issue because he was used to 'em. One other trick that I never would have figured out is that I'm used to setting the hook quickly and coming off the pressure to avoid jerking the rig out of the water. Well with the C&C, ya gotta break that habit, because it will produce a bounce that gives the fish just enough slack to come off. Frustrating.

I'm not sure if I'd go with the C&Cs after this trip, but I do see the advantage of the fast top section in rough water. Then again, I miss the softer action of my Ozarks and Sam Heatons too compared to the Pro Trollers. When you get a big fish on like you're prone to at Grenada, I like those Pro Trollers, but if you're trying to fill a cooler of 12 inchers, the C&Cs are probably a better choice.

Best of both worlds, would be to have a full compliment of Pro Trollers and C&Cs and swap out according to the lake and how rough the water is.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

DD, I have protrollers on my crank baits and Capps and Coleman on my spider rigs. Can't go wrong with them. I have just about fished with every brand out there and always come back to BnM's

I use B'nM Pro Trollers for crankbaits. I use B'nM Sam Heatons and B'nM Ultra light graphite jig poles for spider rigging.......I agree with torch, you just can't beat B'nM
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Don, I say again Wally Marshall for spider-rigging. Sam Heaton for jigging.

You best stick to pullin', it's obvious you know nothing 'bout spider riggin...Wally's are too stiff, you'll miss lots of bites.

Wally's signature series have the same action as BnM trollers, top section off a signature 14'er will fit a pro troller 14'er. But you are right about the wally's tightline being stiff. They are what I pull with.

Default looked at the prices on a few poles form the B & M site

Sam Heaton Super Sensitive is $76.28 for a 12 footer all I can say is OMG and they can keep this one
Funny though that Bass Pro has Sam Heaton Signature Series Jig Rod at $64.99Is this the same rod?

Capps & Coleman Series Trolling Rod is $55.11 for a 14 footer which seems like a decent price
