I they want to close one down I would recomend the one around here that has the least attendance and that woild be those on the Mississippi river or even close to the river. During the summer months these are so full of "skeeters" that you cant sit outside in the evening to enjoy anything, Two that come to mind are Rosedale and Lake Washington. Try puttin one out that doesnt get used instead of one that does!

I talked to some folks last night that are in the know. Cossar has pretty much been spared for a year. they are going to make some changes to make it a little more profitable.

I recieved this email from the MDWFP this morning...............
Thank you for your comments regarding George P. Cossar State Park. The decision
to close George P. Cossar State Park was very difficult.

Our decision was based on several factors including a shortage of funds. Since
Fiscal Year 2008, the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) has
sustained a 31% reduction in funding from the Legislative General Fund
Appropriation as well as a 9.5% cut as part of Governor Barbours FY 2010 budget
reductions, and a 6% reduction in Privilege Fees.

The Parks Division of MDWFP has streamlined its operational costs by reducing
expenditures and has suspended hiring of non-essential personnel. Even with
these actions, MDWFP continues to face budgetary challenges regarding loss of
revenue, with Cossar State Park experiencing the largest sustained deficit.

At this time, MDWFP is negotiating to delay the closure date and/or keep the
park open for camping. Unfortunately, the restaurant and swimming pool will
remain closed. A final outcome is expected within the next two weeks.

Thank you again for your comments.

I could live with closing the pool and the restaurant but not the cabins or camp sites.
