Default 80 hp four stroke yammy!

I have one in the shop that had been to about 10 shops with a miss. I have done a compression test and all cylinders are good. It misses on 1 an 3. It really acts like a fuel issue instead of fire. I cleaned the carbs and there was a little varnish in all of them but not bad. I am running some seafoam through it now and I hope it clears up. Anyone had a similar problem?

I put a remote fuel tank in the front of my boat a while back. The longer fuel line along with the online fuel filter seemed to make mine miss like it was starving for fuel. After trying several different fixes, I just used the tank in the back of the boat and it runs fine ever since

Spark gap? Fuel pressure? ECU problems?

I'm betting on plugs or gaps which is an easy check. Past that, ECU.

Its firing fine, it really acts like a fuel issue. Its on a 2072 F&F boat with a 30 gallon plastic tank. Was some water in the tank and I cleaned it really good. Went an put 5 gallons of fresh gas and a 16oz seafoam. New plugs WB and they are set. I can pull off #1 wire and no difference also #3 but will knock the crap out of you with fire. 1 and 3 have a solenoid on the carb and that might be problem.

Ask Sat to hold #3, then #1 and see if there's any differnce in spark.

This, from the guy who stores dead batteries in a flash light - SEAFOAM will do the trick.

This from a guy that's been AWOL for a week.

Seafoam may help, but it doesn't sound like it's gonna clear it up since it's limited to 2 cylinders.

    Default Money

I put my money on the ethalnol. You might give RJ at RJ's Outboards in Flowood a call. His number is listed on the motor repair thread. He is usually very helpful.

    Default Seafoam

For those of you that have neve tried Seafoam, it will be the best $9.00 you ever spend. I have 2-26 gal tanks in my boat and everytime I fill them up, I put a whole can in each one. My motor mechanic and the folks at Seafoam said to do it. No problems yet.
