Default Ima gone slap the weather man upside da head

I know not to trust them the day before I go fishing but MANNNN, when you can't get it right 5 minutes before I head out the door to the lake. COME ON MAN, that's pathetic. Was watching the weather when I got up at 5:30 Saturday morning and it was Currently, light winds at 3 MPH out of the SSW and then gradually increasing to 7 MPH by noon. I call BULLCRAP on that cause when I got the the rez 45 minutes later, ummm, winds were at 8-10, then, within an hour or so, they were at 12-15 with close to some 20 MPH gusts. Had over 2 foot rollers coming up the lake cause the wind was straight up the channel markers. Bouncing to much to spider rig like I had planed with the 75 minners I had just bought and I wasn't gonna try and pull cranks by myself in that kinda wind. Ended up over on the dam by the water intake easing around for 3 hours. HAd several bites and 3 or 4 big fish on but they all got off. Bad thing is the big bites I had, when I checked the line, there was slime all over it so we know what that means. Guess I just wasted 4 hours Saturday morning.

I feel ya pain DonDon... I saw the same weather prediction but the wind was terrible. We bass fished for the first two hours without a bite... Then decided to troll in the open water. That did not last long. Kept having waves top over the back of my boat. It was just too rough to fish. We ended up trolling in the cove just north of Roses Bluff to escape the wind and made one pass down the spillway on the way out. We caught one white perch and about 12 catfish. One catfish weighted about 8-10 pounds. I tell ya, that old catfish did the death roll all the way to the boat. I never thought I was going to land him. It was fun though... Hopefully next time the wind will be a little better...

Default I was a looking for ya Double G

I drove up to 3 Prong and marked the heck outta fish there but couldn't stop and fish due to the waves. Then I eased back down out by Twin Harbor and was gonna put out the striper rods and troll for stripers but it was just to bad. If I'd have had a fish get on while I was going into the wind, I'd have never been able to land it due to having to worry bout keeping the boat straight. Bad thing is usually I can go to the water intake and atleast get ahold of a few dinks, they were'nt even biting

Yeah I never saw you either... I figured you slept in due to the wind.. ha. Yeah there was no way to troll in the open water Saturday. The wind was terrible. I can't stand fishing in the wind. Least I got to learn how to use the 898 and explore another area of the lake. I did talk to one guy spider rigging and he only caught two crappie. This was around noon so they must not have been doing much anywhere.

Let me ask you this... Seems like everywhere I got in the main lake I am seeing a ton of shad on the 898. Do you see these same shad everywhere? Seem like a bunch of small shad. I have not been able to identify the schools of fish yet but I can see some major shad down there...

Thanks maj.. At first I thought it was a lot of turbulence or something... but I hit some other areas Saturday where there was no shad and my screen was clear. Just every since I had the 898 I was seeing all this cloudy stuff... Glad to confirm it is all shad and my installation is okay... ha.

From the looks of all the shad... they got too much food!

You'd be surprised Torch, you'd be surprised. I can give you about 600,000 examples in Washington DC. And that's just G12 and above.
