Fruit Jar Rules of Competition
1) You may enter alone or with a partner of your choice. Practice is allowed until midnight the day before the tournament.
2) Tournament water shall be defined as areas open to all participants and accessible by normal means of navigation.
3) In case of extreme weather/water conditions, the tournament director reserves the right to postpone or cancel this tournament with the return of entry fees.
4) Teams may start fishing (line in water) anywhere on the lake at 6:00/6:30 am and must stop by 1:00/1:30 pm. Any team fishing before or after that time will be disqualified.
5) Two person teams must stay within 25 feet of each other while fishing. Teams without boats are allowed to enter and fish. The same 25 foot applies weather fishing from a boat, shore ,dock,pier, or any other floating or stationary device.
6) Teams may use rod and reel combos, hand held pole and reel combo or hand held poles. Eight pole limit per team applies except where state limit is set to a lesser number.
7) Live or artificial bait may be used.
8) Crappie must be hooked and landed with rod or pole by team member(s). Crappie must be hooked in the mouth or through the lip. A landing net may be used.
9) Teams must comply with all state fishing and boating regulations, including the use of PFD's and kill switches. Fishing and boating regulations and licenses are the responsibility of team members.
10) Crappie must be weighed at the official weigh in site. Both team members must be present at the time of weigh in to be eligible for prizes.
11) No team will be allowed to enter the weigh in line after 1:30/2:00 pm.
12) A team can not weigh in more than seven (7) crappie and those 7 crappie MUST BE ALIVE when entering the weigh in line. Any team presenting more than 7 crappie will be disqualified. Once you enter the weigh in line your fish will be verified dead or alive. All dead fish will be removed from creel. If a fish is verified alive in the weigh in line and dies it will be weighed. The tournament director has sole responsibility for the declaration of dead or alive crappie.
13) All crappie brought to the scales for weigh in must have been caught during tournament hours from tournament waters by the team bringing them to the scales.
14) All crappie presented at weigh in must meet state length requirements. Any team bringing illegal to the weigh in will be disqualified.
15) Only one big fish entry per team. Only one (1) big fish will be weighed in and contestants will have that fish marked and designated as his/her big fish.
