I had one yesterday. Pure stroke of genious! I've been trying to figure out what to do next since I suffered such a beatdown at the Sardis FJ from all the folks pulling cranks. My boat is in no way set up for pulling cranks and my wallet is sittin kinda skinny these days. So I started thinking, what if I try to spider rig with crankbaits and force them down there with some big ole sinkers? It just might work! I could possibly pioneer a new revolution in crappie fishing. I then presented this newfound stroke of genious to another CC member which will remain anonymous <Slabo> which imediately pimp-slapped my emotions and informed me that this is called "pushing cranks" and people have been doing it for years.![]()
I now will re-claim my spot on the short bus.

I was doing that at Sardis. had 6 poles pulling cranks, 2 pushing sats jigs and 2 pushing cranks. IF you decide to try it, you'll need WAY MORE than the 8 oz I had to keep them straight down. They were running back at a 45 degree angle with the 8 oz I had on the medium heavy 8 foot striper setup I have. I horse a 8 lb striper in with it and I had it bent over big time with the weights and the action of the crank. You're thinking outside the box though, that's good. I got a little something I'm gonna try this weekend single poling it. we'll see how it works

I was thinking of doing the same thing, only using jigs and minners and a weight to keep them down off the front. SSSHHHHHH dont say anything. It might start a fad!

HS batman! You serious? That's bigger than most of my fish. That's a sparkplug or a brick. I got some 2 and 3 ozs and I'm scared the 12' Walley Marshall's are gonna be sent over like you and Billbob's last shower adventure.

We use to push them on a party barge with 12oz weights. We used BnM 20 ft cane poles.

your recent close up picture showed no evidence of mutiple stab wounds to the crappie face, I will now have to go back and survey more photos for such evidence or maybe even a minner bucket
