I thought i had the motor selection narrowed down until I went to the MK website and looked at model selection AND started thinking!! If I buy a Terrova and it is not one of the 2 model that come with the I Pilot pre-installed, then should I buy just the plain Terrova and install the I Pilot accessory vs buying Terrova with auto and co-pilot features? After THINKING does not the I Pilot duplicate or replace the auto pilot and come with its own I Pilot (copilot) handheld remote?

If I understand your question....yes, the I-pilot versions come with the remote and has all the functions. If you go with the co-pilot remote, you have to buy that seperate after the Terrova. Biggest savings to be had is to go ahead and buy the Ipilot pre-installed models. Not sure you can buy a Terrova with the Co-Pilot remote....can't seem to remember at the moment. Probably can, but I'd have to check to be sure or somebody here will know.
I was like you Lacy as I had a Maxxum and "thought" I'd like the electric steers, but wasn't sure. What I did was to buy a used PD with the Co-Pilot as a test on the cheap. Liked it so much that I sold it and upgraded to the Terrova and I've not looked back. Still have the Maxxum in the garage. I kept it thinking I'd either swap back if I didn't like it or quick mount them both and swap back and forth. Decided I'm never switching back now though.

[QUOTE=Wannabe...;1202158]Sorry bout that G-3, I confused you with improper use of the terms. Yes, the auto-pilot is a feature like Fillet said, liquid filled course control, that is turned on and off with the foot pedal.
I agree the PD foot pedal was useless. The V2 was better, but I disagree on the Terrova foot pedal. It has left and right steer buttons on it that are fairly easy to use for course corrections while under way, like as in in pulling cranks or spider rigging at steady rates of speed. Now the main steer pedal that is heal to toe steer is kind of crappy, but ueseable....just not great compared to the regular cable steers.
On the PDV2 vs Terrova. The Terrova is superior in most every way - bigger motor and windings, better stow and deploy mechanism, The Terrova has a more sturdy lock in the stowed position and also cuts power to the motor when stored...not sure if the PDV2 does or not. The big kicker for a lot of folks is that with the PDV2 and I-Pilot, you can't use the foot pedal and remote at the same time. You can with the Terrova.
i use my footpedal with the ipilot on the powerdrive after installing canepoles maximizer:p
