    Default Memorial Day

Thanks to all those who are serving and have served to protect our freedom. This country wouldn't be what it is today without you wonderful folks!

THANK YOU! Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Someone sent me this in an email and I thought I'd share:

It is the VETERAN, not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the VETERAN, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the VETERAN, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the VETERAN, not the campus organizer, who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician, Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN who salutes the Flag,

It is the VETERAN who serves under the Flag,

    How true, how true.

I want to thank the others that have served before and after me, I served five years in the Navy.

I was driving down highway 9 last week and MDOT was doing some road repair work and had one lane closed. They had a flagman there with a pole with stop on one side and slow on the other. When it was our turn to go the cars in front of me went thrrough and when I got up where the flagman was he suddenly and swiftly passed that sign pole from his right hand to his left and tucked it in close to his side like a flag staff....his left leg kicked out just a little and he popped his heels together at attention and very smartly popped me a salute.....he had seen the Vietnam tag on my front bumper. Old reflexes took over and I returned his salute. I thought it was a real nice thing and it made my day.

I hope eveyone has a good and safe holliday weekend. Take time out for a few minutes to give thanks to our heros that are not with us today.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
