    Default Boat update

Well, I went out and visited with the boat yesterday. I think it was happy to see me.

The Terrova came in yesterday. Sweet. Gonnabe a chore to install though.

The Lowrance shipped yesterday and the 997 should ship today. Having fits with the hotfoot though. The problem is that it has a Land & Sea dual action hotfoot installed already. Well, that one lets you control throttle from either the hot foot or the hand control. Fine, but with the tight seating, it's pretty dang easy to reach for the trim and hit the hand throttle. Hate it. Weird too, cause it's got a cable going into the bottom and out the back, but there's only 2 cables into the motor housing, shift and throttle. Can't figure out how the dang thing is hooked up and tied into those two cables. Anway, the solution is to get a T&H hotfoot and scrap the old one. Think DonG on here is gonna hook me up.

Next up, brakes. It's got hydraulic surge with drums. Well, the reservoir was slap empty, but it will get and hold pressure. Just appears the cylinders are frozen. Haven't decided if their toast yet, but the adjuster on one side somehow brok off and was rolling around inside the drum. Gonnabe a chore to find individual parts and might just have to buy all new assemblies.

Replaced the water pressure guage. Steam cleaned the exterior of the motor and greased everything up. The batts are installed and the wiring cleaned up. Got a few annoying little things left to do like a light here and there that's blown, an hour meter that doesn't work etc.

Still a ways off, but it's starting to take shape.

Don't know what the plan is yet. Dadgum boat sounds close, but it's sitting on jack stand with the tires and hubs removed and parts scattered all over the deck at the moment. LOL. Gonna have to get awful busy to get it back together. Haven't even figured out what holders are gonna go where yet, plus I've to a decision to make on seating. Realized yesterday that I've got pin lock bases from the factory and I bought pin posts to install. That ain't gonna work.

Ug.....well, Mr. DonG from here did in fact hook me up with a Hotfoot. Matter of fact, it's in the mail now with instructions on where to send the money to pay for it if I get it and decide I can use it. Now you just can't beat that kind of payment plan even if you go downtown to main street. Turns out, he grew up in the same neighborhood I lived in when I was in Jackson, MS and stomps around Rosedale at the duck camp right down the street from where I went to school. Heck, except for the fact that I've never met him, we might just be kin, we're so close. LOL.

Anywho....about the time I got off the phone with DonG, my mechanic with his impecable timing called to say he figured out how to disconnect the dual control on the existing hot foot. LOL.

Oh, and he let me know the break lines inside the frame have rusted through somewhere and are going to have to be replaced before we can figure out if the brake cylinders are good or not.

Somebody let me hold a dolla.

That's the point Papermouth. It's got a blinker trim mounted to the right and I was getting interference fromt he throttle position. Got a T&H headed this way now though.
