So my moms got a few cats and gets her kittly litter in these big plastic square buckets. I been havin her save em for me since the end of the summer and I've got seven of them now and had been scouting the backroads for bamboo patches. I had spotted several places around here but had not been able to track down the property owners to get permission to clear out some bamboo.
Today while driving my daughter to pre-school I'm driving along and low and behold someone had cleared a good bit of mature bamboo out of their yard and set it out on the curb to be picked up. I dropped her off and me and my brother were back within an hour with a flatbed trailer and loaded up as much as we could. This stuff is 20+ feet long and 2+ inches in diameter.
Anybody who is familiar with Arkabutla, I'm open suggestions on depths and general areas to drop em. Also, how tall should I make em. I'm thinking since they are going to be in 'butla they might need to be a little shorter.
Well, I tried to post some pics but I cant get it to work, I uploaded them to shutterfly and tried to link em but all I get is red x.

I wouldn't make them any taller than 4-5'. Somewhere in one of the creeks would be a good choice. Now is a good time to get it in there, too. Water is at it's lowest and as long as it sinks now you should never have to worry about someone finding your spot because of low water. I would also try to put some in different locations, so that you can always have a place to fish regardless of wind direction. This info should at least be worth coordinates to a couple of them.:D
Take you a hole saw and bore you some holes in the sides of them buckets and use the whole piece of boo side ways. You can eith pour quick rete on them in the bucket or just borrow some riprap at the boat ramp to weight em down with. Those pieces have limbs big enough to stand up 4-5 feet and still be really wide too.

I forgot to mention, my wife is hosting a baby shower for a friend this Saturday and has been busting her tail all week getting the house all clean and presentable. You should have seen the look on her face when she got home and saw the big ole pile of bamboo in the driveway.

One more thing. When hauling bamboo, be sure to load the bottom end of the boo towards the front of the trailer with the tops hanging off the back. If you do it the other way, like we did, the tops catch air and bend back against whatever you strapped it down with and you look like a fool driving down the road.
