Default Suggestions for mounting new ff.

Just got my new HB 788ci combo dual beam with GPS. Also got the 2010 Nav premium lake card. I'm not sure where to mount the head or the ducer. Some of you know I fish out of a 16' Tracker Pro. I fish from the front seat now but will be at the console for trolling. Even if spider-rigging from the front, I still will have to get to where I will be fishing. Now considering mounting ducer to the transom and the head on the console with a svivel mount. Will be adding a 998 or 1197 with interlink in the future but not for a few months . Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

majflyboy when I had humminbird I just put two mounts on one up front one on the console, and just popped the unit out of mount and moved forward, they are pretty east of move and that was on a tracker 17.5

Maj, like bm said go ahead and get 2 transducers and 2 mounts. This will Allow you to use in both places. BP ought to have power wire and ducer in store. If they have it buy a power wire for the 998 so when you do get it you won't have to run another one.

MM I like what you and BM said. I'll get the extra ducers and mounts. I don't understand about the power wire for the 998. Can you explain so a dummy can understand? Thanks.

Maj , the power supply wires for a 788 and a 998 are not the same. What he is tryin to tell ya is go ahead and run both now to save a little time later.

No need for loans yet t-man. Don't forget, I still work two jobs for this stuff. That's why I have so few days to fish. Almost doesn't make any sense does it??

Assuming you've got good eyes, I'd mount it upfront and set the zoom properly on the gps and use it for general navigation while underway. On rb, you don't really need 1 Mia for navigation anyway, but turning for ff and nav while on the tm is confusing and tiresome. This will get you by for a few months.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.

Thanks sat fer splaining that. Guess I should have been a little more clearer on that.

Maj the way mine is set up I pulled my wires and it's just as easy to pull 2 at a time as it is to pull one and then 6 months down the rOad have to do it again. You may not have to worry bout this according to where and what your power supply is. I went straight to my battery with an online fuse. Some go to the fuse block under the console but I didn't. Just a thought. Like wb said I would not mount at the console to leave. My brother has that set up an it is aggrevating.
