I know but....................when you spend that kind of money, you usually follow the dIstructions. Normally when you dont follw dIstructions, you break something.

I thought they were wall anchors just couldnt get the name off the tip of my toung LOL. I thought about a plate of some type under there would be best bet but thats my problem, no idea where to find one.

Wonder if a piece of wood under the console would work? It would be hidden from the elements and from the eyes.

We used wood under our plastic console on the pontoon boat for mounting purposes and it worked just fine. On the jon boat, we used flat aluminum for the same purpose. Both worked and are lasting well.

Duck, I have the G-3 as you with the same plastic console topper. Dang thing is elcheapo dood. Very brittle. That being said, 1/2 treated plywood as a backer would be better than metal. It'll make better contact and you can easily trim to fit up in there. Metal would be OK, but you're prolly gonna need to trim it. There's not a lot of room under there. I have both units mounted direct on the console. Don't know about your boat, but I get a lot of console slap and movement when I'm in a chop. So much so that I didn't want to risk busting the console with a 5" FF held out there on the end of a RAM. That'd prolly be way more torque than that console could stand. Think you'd be OK with a handeld mount though. They're fairly light and not held too far away from the base. Just be careful when you tighten down on the screws. I had to remove my console all together for gauge and ff install and split the plastic in a couple of spots by over torqueing the mounting screws.

NO drilling, over torqueing or busting plastic. Stick it on where you want it, and pump the bulb until it gets tight. Not in the right place and you want to move it? Hit the release buttom, it releases and you move it. No harm, no foul, no drilling

Won't work for him DD. The paint is not smooth and the plastic is dimpled. Works great on fiberglass though.........Until it slips at speed that is.
