    Default help computer geeks

We have Java runtime environment 1.5.0 installed but I can't get it to work. It keeps saying Loading Java Applet Failed and what I need to view won't open.

My girlfriend needs this to work so that she can view her lectures in an online class that she is taking. Without it she will bit@$ at me a lot and she will have to drive to school an extra day just to watch her lectures. With the price of gas that translates to more bit#%ing at me. I also can't see the radar in motion on NOAA's website so I consider it very important. I just don't understand java and I don't know what to do. I know some of you are very good with these machines, I am good with fishing poles.

Ok fiddle, I'm not a computer geek but, I tried Java Runtime and it is not user friendly with yahoo games, it made games to be very slow. Do a search in Microsoft and download Microsoft Virtual Machine. I think that will help. I'll look and if I find it, I'll put it in a link in here.

Is she running Microsoft Windows XP? When you find MVM you will have to go to...tools...internet options...hit the advanced button...pick the Java Runtime, to turn it off. Then pick the MVM to turn it on. It was hard for me to find MVM..cause I ain't no computer person, but I did eventually figger it out. This info might steer you in the right direction.

You'd think I'd be askin her to fix the computer. I'm 28 and she's 22. When I learned about computers it was in 8th grade and it was an Apple with only a green screen and all it would do is play Oregon Trail. The first semester I was in college in 1995 after I got out of hightschool, everyone knew about computers and the Internet. I didn't know crap I couldn't even turn one on and I had never seen the so called Internet. I think thats one reason why I only lasted a semester that go 'round. I couldn't even type papers unless I used a typewriter. Then I took a class and learned a little in my 2nd college stint 3 years later but by then I had taught myself a little bit and a friend taught me enough to get by. She's had computer classes with Windows and the Internet since she was in 8th grade. And I'm supposed to know stuff?
