Default Out of the mouth of idiots

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is blaming Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, along with President Bush, for causing Hurricane Katrina.

"As Hurricane Katrina dismantles Mississippi’s Gulf Coast, it’s worth recalling the central role that Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour played in derailing the Kyoto Protocol and kiboshing President Bush’s iron-clad campaign promise to regulate CO2," Kennedy blogged Tuesday on HuffingtonPost.com. The influential Democrat's enviro-conspiracy theory had the sinister Gov. Barbour engineering Bush's energy policy on behalf of "the president’s major donors from the fossil fuel industry."

Kennedy charges that in March 2001, the former Republican National Committee chairman issued "an urgent memo to the White House" on CO2 emissions.

With that, the president dropped his pro-environment campaign promise like a hot potato.

Because of Bush and Barbour's CO2 folly, said Kennedy: "Now we are all learning what it’s like to reap the whirlwind of fossil fuel dependence which Barbour and his cronies have encouraged."

RFK, Jr., even suggested that Katrina's last minute detour through Mississippi was a bit of Divine payback, declaring:

"Perhaps it was Barbour’s memo that caused Katrina, at the last moment, to spare New Orleans and save its worst flailings for the Mississippi coast."

I have read the Kyoto Protocol a couple of times.Their researcher and media biased findings make no sense to me. They say that in 100 years period the temperature will rise 3 degrees, with Kyoto Protocol with will rise 2.6 degrees. Wow, by all means lets have thousands of jobs lost for .4 of a degree. Besides, I thought the icecaps were melting and cooling off the water temperatures.

We can't drive our SUV's ,but RFK Jr. can fly around the country in his private jet. Maybe Mr. Jr's uncle Ted can give those poor souls in New Orleans swimming lessons and rid them of his prefect warped world.

Gas is 3.00$ a gallon here and there is a refinery 12 miles away from me. $3 a gall. gas looks pretty good to me considering those poor folks, some of them, looting stores for diapers, chips and cokes.

Fishingpox, I agree with you about the lefts attempt to blame everything on the President. One good thing is that the gas prices will go down as supply increases. As it does seem trivial to complain about the prices when many in New Orleans now have so little.
Although, I must admit your avatar is a little scary.

....hurricane cause of damage, but has nothing to do with effect of rising prices...thats all man-made......
..when most business incur loss of facilities or supplies...they are not allowed to immediately jack up prices to offset loss of profit.....most have to absorb fiscal hit and lose a little of profit or collect insurance; sometimes both.........

Oil companies have their own rules it seems.....I smell a RAT....

Do you think those poor folks that lost everything can turn around and charge someone extra to make up for their loss???...

I'm as ready to tar and feather the oil people as the next guy, but
I was responding to the main part of the post, that they are trying to
say this hurricane was the result of global warming, and to hang it on
someone because of how they voted on some Kyoto treaty. Typical
liberal crap - The only difference I see in ANY of the parties is who they
cater to for their money - put 'em all in a bag and shake 'em out, one
is the same as the other.

    Lightbulb solution oriented....

...I'll agree most politicians are bought and paid for........also many theories as to causes of mother natures mood changes.....but that's all it is theories....one idea's as good as another......I'll fess up to being more liberal than conservative....thus stated I could say typical conservative crap; trying to deflect from the "real" problem of spiking gas prices and destruction of peoples lives to focus on something that no one has any control over..............I like playing devils advocate, look at all point of views.....no matter how unpopular....

......but the facts are a natural disaster has occured.....now we will judge those in power on how they react to the challenge.......fair or not.....so far I personally don't like the way things are headed....

...rising gas prices will do nothing but foster ill will.....already reports about fighting and violence......many people drive for a living.....some won't be able to continue and lose their income...many other business profit margin rely on fossil fuel of some sort.....more jobs lost.....more ill will....could cause more violence...start of a vicious cycle...

...just observe and remember to hold those in power accountable when it's time to vote again....don't vote on promises or predictions.....vote on performance.......phew!!! thanks for letting me vent

    Default vent on, dude

everybody needs to get really mad and vent - no problem. I am not going
to get drawn into who is deflecting what - There is plenty of blame to go
around far as I'm concerned. Both bunches have had their times in office,
and still nothing is fixed. Jigdragger, I don't think it is helpfull to say this
country won't survive if this or that happens or don't - We made it through
the great depression, two world wars, devisive wars like Vietnam, heck, even a civil war - I plan to survive, if it means living off my little patch of
land. No, I don't think it will be easy, or enjoyable, in fact it would be awful,
It would take me hours to list all the things I'd have to do without that I
enjoy now, mainly gas heat and refridgeration. We have got soft, but we
are the children and grandchildren of the folks who have lived it and
survived - I think (hope/pray) we will rise to the task if called upon.
Well enough rambling for now, got to get to work - but do try to think
positive if and when you can. Jeff

    Default My vent

When is people going to wake up and relize America spiraling out of control! I bet our founding fathers are turning over in there graves from what the goverment as done to this once great country. This place is a ticking time bomb, we are just self distructing our own way of life. If people dont wake up and fix it, we are going to become a 3rd world country one day.

Dont get me wrong I love America, and I love living here but the goverment is screwing us blind.

With the people looting I understand the food and water and other stuff. But if you are caught with some other than that, you should be shot on the spot. Why are people stealing a tv when there is no power??? Just idiots, I would say some people stayed just to loot and steal on someone elses miss fortune of the storm. I hate to think of the scams that are forth coming with this storm, just think of the few people that tried to scam us for 9/11 saying there family member had died in the towers.

I agree with Karl that most polititions are bought and paid for. But none is more apparent than the thing that is running this country into the ground now. He has made it very apparent that big business owns him, lock, stock, and barrel, oil barrel that is. The damage that he has done to this country in the short time that he has been in power has devastated this country. He is suppose to be the President and the Buck does stop at his door step.
I have said that he should open the oil reserve to help drop the gas prices. Well guess what! Our great leader has finally opened the reserves but not to help lower the gas prices but because they claim the oil flow is restricted. This way the oil company's won't be hindered with the price gauging, from a lull in the oil flow. You won't see the prices drop for some time now.
Just like after 9/11 when Bush said that they hit the Trifecta and could get their conservative adjendas put forth. The main one was the Patriot Act. Same program just different name. This was developed by Daddy Bush when his regime was in power. Just my opinion. You would be hard press to come up with anything positive that this administration has done for the good of all the people of this country.
You think people don't trust him, I wonder why! I am afraid to see what else he will come up with to farther destroy this country. When his Daddy left office he was giving out $100,000.00 bonus's to his dept. heads for doing such a great job in running this country into the highest deficit this country had ever seen. This regime has picked up where his Daddy left off and has surpassed the biggest deficit in the history of this country. This is going to be dumped on our grand childern to pay for. But don't worry, Him and his are well taken care of, Just in case you were worried about him.
You say that people are Bush Bashers. I am wondering how you can support someone that is so very obviously against you and yours unless you are from the very rich.
