Job satisfaction

Question for the good folks on here. How much is job satisfaction worth? I mean if you were good at your job, your boss always gave you great reviews, and it paid well, you just did not really enjoy or feel satisfied with your work. How much of a pay cut is worth it for the satisfaction in your work? My job pays really well, but I just do not enjoy it or feel like I am accomplishing much. I don't want to put my family in a bad spot financially, but I can't seem to get past how I feel.

Hmm I would say consider it carefully. Our daughter left her good paying job for one with increased pay and benefits and has found out the grass wasn’t greener. Consider retirement etc etc. If I was young and in your shoes I would probably leave if it wouldn’t put my family in financial straits. btw doesn’t apply to me. It’s a fine balancing act. There are plenty of job openings out there but are there in your profession. Check all avenues before deciding and have something lined up for sure before you make the move. JM2C

Be careful. All jobs have quirks. How would you know you would be satisfied at new career. Grass always seems greener somewhere else. Not trying to discourage you just feel like I would need to pray about that one. Much discernment needed to make that decision. If your making good money and have good co workers. Better think hard. I have been praying about it daily No clear answer from the Lord on it
So I have weighed the pros and cons, which I think is prudent. It means probably a pay cut, it means a 60 daily round trip commute(which means less time with the fam and less time to fish), and an increased workload for my wife. Currently she does the overwhelming majority of taking kids to all of their activities, but with me working from home she at least doesn't have to take everyone every time. The pros would be totally selfish and probably benefit only me. So I am leaning toward passing and just learning to deal better with my frustrations at my current job.
Now, if God gives me a loud, clear messaage to go for it...

Very good advice above. If you hate the company and the job you still have to consider making sure your family will be OK.

Job satisfaction goes a long way. As does sense of accomplishment and belonging. At the end of the day we all have to pay our bills and pay for food. Life is certainly full of tough calls.
As far as changing careers. Sometime you don't know what you don't know until you are smack dab in the middle of this new job. I have made good moves and I have at times jumped out of the frying pan and into the proverbial fire.

Maybe you’re expecting too much out of your self! If you’re doing your best at your job then that’s all you can do! If your boss is a real boss and is giving you true reviews then you must be performing well. Money isn’t everything sure you have to take care of you and your family but being satisfied with your career goes a long ways. I could choose a different career and make quite a bit more money but I’m very satisfied where I am. getting rich No way .living yes! More reasons for loving my job , it’s only 5 miles from my home , I work mostly only 40 hrs a week. I have 5 week’s vacation ! providing my job is caught up I can be off/late when I want/need to be.lot’s to consider as said already . If I felt like it was time to move on I would saturate it in prayer and keep it before my family and not make any sudden decisions , think out all my options and if I left I would try to do so in a manner that if it don’t work out maybe you can to go back there!

Lots of great advice above. Every job I’ve had and left I’ve always said “it can’t be worse than this place”…. I’ve been wrong every time…..lol. Now with a family to support and this crazy world and uncertainty I’m just sucking it up buttercup. It’s a job, pays my bills and provides for my family. It could always be worse.
