Long ago I realized being happy at work was my thing . My skills are somewhat sought after in my industry and it would be fairly easy to go elsewhere and be unhappy for 2 to 3 times my current wages.
The point is this , only one boss now , he owns the place.
He and I get along well . I am past retirement age as of last year and still work there .
Would I take pay cut to like my job you ask ?

Personally, I would try and figure out why you dislike what you are doing. If you can figure that out, step one is done. From there, I would ask myself, what do I really want to be doing. Armed with that information, I would approach my boss and have an open and frank discussion with them about it. If they are a good boss/leader, they will work with you to try and make the position better and a better fit for you.

No way if I was in IT I'd take a 60 minute one way commute! At best adding 10 hours a week and a ton of expense plus wear and tear on a vehicle.
Work life balance way more important to me. Lots of IT jobs around just keep looking and find what you feel is right before you take the leap.
Remember the grass is not always greener, all jobs and positions have stuff you have to put up with. Just find one you're willing to put up with the stuff! There will be stuff....................
