Interesting. I have looked into installing retractable flotation on Pondtoon to increase flotation under heavy loads ( fat folks), but the transom structure would require too much modification to support the addition. I believe this is a doable idea. Airplanes have been folding their wings and retracting gears for about 100 years. So why not a boat?

Might be a good place to buy some stock. Mine is wide enough, but it would be nice for it to narrow down for storage.
