    Donnie at crappie logic asked me to post this.
    Left handed holster. 12 shell holder built in. Has 2 metal rivets embossed with smith and Wesson. Has a serial number. He could find no information on their web site. Name:  IMG_0276.jpg

    Check the vintage holster numbers charts on S&W websites or forums, think the numbers relate to the model # and as you pointed out the LH just means left handed. Not sure that's a serial number just model numbers compatible with the holster itself.

    I still haven't found nothing even close to it prolly isn't worth anything just wondering how old it is thanks for your input

    I typed in old police 38 LH S&W holster and found this picture. Police used 38's revolvers back in the old days.These were probably made just for the police dept. Later highway patrols started using 38 special revolvers. Now they use auto's mostly.

    38 or 357 4 inch barrel. Looks to be 60’s or 70’s model holster. Police and or security. Late 70’s to 80’s the holsters were mainly thumb break. 80’s up were different levels of retention thumbbreak on both revolvers and semi-auto.

    You already got the answer I was going to give the pivot for the gun to move while in the sitting position where is the giveaway for me. Good find for the money.
