If the hose is corroded now I wouldn't splice it. Guaranteed future issue.
Bite the bullet now and replace it, do whatever it takes.
You'll be money ahead if you just call a professional, seriously.
Tom is there any amount of pipe sticking out to where you could cut it close to the fitting with a hack saw blade, and then put a collar and then more pipe or fittings as needed. Just end up with a metal valve where in the future you can grip it with a wrench while twisting off the hose with pliers.
