Lost one of my TV favorites

I've watched the TV show" Gold Rush" since it began several years ago. John "Grandpa" Schnabel was my favorite member of the cast. He was a self-made man, a gentleman and a philosopher. He died in his sleep this morning at 96. I don't put much stock in TV characters these days but he was one of a kind. RIP.

Like you said he made the show real interesting. Always liked to see him on the TV show. I know his Grandson will miss him, I sure miss my Grandparents.

Yep.. I really enjoyed him. Seemed like a genuinely nice and pleasant man. 96 is a good run and glad he went peacefully. My condolences to the Schnabel family..

I didn't know, hate to hear it I really like seeing him when he would come on the show.
