Default Crazy New Jersey gun laws

I am not usually a social crusader, but when I hear about things that are totally unfair or out of control, I think I have a responsibility to speak up. I just read a story about this young man and his run in with New Jersey's crazy gun laws. His life is ruined over his legal possession of a gun that he had legally purchased. Just cause this happened in New Jersey, does not mean it could not happen where you live.

Read this, and sign his petition if you agree.....

Now stop and think about this before you go all ape. You don't want gun control laws and are always saying they just need to enforce the laws they now have, right?? So this person broke one of those laws, and now you say they shouldn't enforce the laws that are on the books, now????? He did the crime he should do the time, period!!! You can't have it both ways!!!! EB

That is concealed carry most anywhere. No CC license the gun must be visible. That's how it is here.

As if you've never committed a crime, even by accident  ... really, Beave ?? Leave the right vs left ideology out of your comments and take into consideration that the man made a mistake & owned up to it. IF he hadn't admitted to having the gun in the glove box, I doubt a routine traffic stop would result in the officers checking throughout the vehicle ... and none of this would have occurred. Cut the man some slack for at least being honest.

I mean, seriously ... NJ gun laws says you have to register a BB GUN, & failure to do so could land you in jail for 3yrs

What is the old saying--ignorance of the law is no excuse!!! So what other laws do you want the law enforcement to ignore???
Pappy there isn't any politics involved in my statement. Why didn't he have a conceal carry permit if he was a security guard. It was my understanding that most had to have a permit as part of their job if carrying a gun was part of it!!! EB

There is politics involved when you reference pro-gun & anti-gun ideologies ... albeit faint, but it is there.
Security Guards don't necessarily "carry concealed" ... they usually open carry. I don't know NJ gun laws enough to say that even if he had a CC permit, having the gun in the glove box of his vehicle would not still have been breaking the law. And he wasn't exactly your run of the mill "security guard" ... he was an "armored car guard" and was charged with "weapons possession". WELL DUH, of course he "possessed" a "weapon" ... but he wasn't trying to hide the fact, he possessed the weapon legally, and had every right to have the weapon.

Doesn't really matter ... he got an attorney & is seeking an appeal to overturn the felony conviction.

In Louisiana your vehicle is considered an extention of your home thus it legal to carry in your vehicle and I think that if it's not on your person, it cannot be in plain view.
