Had it for 15 years now, had back surgery in 07, that helped me big time, Before surgery I would get so bad I couldn't walk, take 2 weeks to get back on my feet, now, If I watch what I do, it doesn't hardly bother me. Can't lift more than 15 lbs, can't pull on anything!, Got to keep my back up straight, watch how I sleep, my leg tingles all the time, I'm used to that, But now I got a pinched never in my neck, pain in my shoulder and running down my right arm to my hand, and my whole arm will go to sleep, Not sure what I'
m going to do about it yet, I dont want to have surgery again if I can help it,hoping it will get better on its on. My back doctor is not ready to do surgery on it yet, he thinks it will get better, so I'm giving it time to see what happens.

Been there had that no fun, our family Dr aka the quack lol was going to put me in physical therapy after 2 weeks of doing stretches and such. It would take me 30 minutes to get out of the car at work and the same when I got home. I found an old school chiropractor and went to him . Oh my what a difference, the wallet and the stretches all good info , but for me getting my frame straightened was the ticket. My neighbor growing up was a Chiropractor thats why I said old school hands on . Now once I feel it coming on I go get cracked before the muscles setup out of position. You may want to get that neck checked out , you may just need a adjustment . Good luck my friend its a rough deal, got to get rid of the pain to get rid of the inflammation ,got to get rid of the inflammation to get rid of the pain. Hard to do .

I've had back issues since 86' (torn ligaments, missed 26 weeks of work) later a fractured vertebra and then a surgery. Wallet in the front pocket, chiropractor and stretching exercise's before you get out of bed in the morning usually help me but every few years I have a nerve block.

I'm 80 now, had it off and on since I was 12 years old. Sometimes I could go several years without a flare up. Two years ago it came on bad. Could not drive more than 5 miles without stopping to walk around a bit, then go another 5. I'm quite sure the chiropractors will be able to lighten the load in your wallet. I opted for an excellent md in pain management. a series of 3 injections a year ago and I'm fine. better than ever. Be wary of naiads, they will damage your kidneys . Also beware of the sound a duck makes.

I have just been through this.
1. Have a good orthopedic dr cat scan or mri you to rule out other issues. He should also send you for nerve conduction tests
. Once other issues ruled out locate a really good pain mgm dr
3.He will do a series of cortozone shots
4.If the series of shots slow down the pain but not completely then he may opt to BURN THE NERVE
5.I just finished all of the above
6.Good Luck

I also had neck fusion surgery. Put the 5-6-7 together. The shots did not help. Still hurt most mornings and tingle down my left arm some time. But don't drop things because I can't feel them anymore. Full year recovery from that surgery. Try all you can first, before surgery.

Sorry bud, I understand the feeling all too well. Military life was my big downfall. 80lb packs don't seem to be good for the back. Nor does helecoptor fast roping with said pack on.
I lived with it after I got out of the Marines until 2002 when I was hit by a snowmobile and crushed a disc below L4. Went to the hospital on a backboard on valentines day while my soon to be bride watched me "try" to use a bedpan! I broke two ribs but was lucky my back didn't break.
Was told to avoid going to a chiropractor. After a week, I couldn't take it anymore. I found an oldschool one (like someone else mentioned). I crawled in but I walked out. Felt like dancing. Even found a spot in my mid back that had been out for over 10 years. I asked about the inversion table but was advised against it. They did recommend going to something like a pullup bar and simply hanging without using the arm muscles. That helps.
I only carry my wallet when I go someplace. I get out of my truck, sit down at work or anyplace else, I take it out of my pocket. Tobacco can is another bad one!
