A few years ago when I was in scouts we used a coffee can stove. 3lb metal coffee can w/can opener holes around the bottom. 6 holes that crisscrossed the top with stout wire hangers bent over about 45* on the end to keep them in place. Build the fire, let it settle down a little, install the wire, place pot on top. Wind easily blocked, it worked well for our backpack adventures. You brought back a flood of memories.
Neat!!!!!!!
I must be aging.
I useta dig a hole in ground for fire and drag my woman around by the hair on her head.
Talk about a flood of memories........, I think I still have my club around somewhere.

Watched a bunch of videos and decided to design my own. Cut it out and cuz came over and welded it together for me. Got a little cleaning up to do and painting
with some high heat paint. Lookin' forward to firing it up. It was a fun 7 hours of cuttin' & grinnin'.
Attachment 176644Finished. Now the clean up and painting.
Looks good, sir...
good looking stove RRR ! should work good for cooking. i got into these things last year and havent let go yet. the "rocket mass heater" idea keeps pecking at my thoughts. i like the idea of heating with out burning all the time. and im real cheap too. lol i went as far as to build a core and have burnt it all summer playing with feeding and burn temps. mine is made from clay, perilite, sand, and straw/dry weed stalks and some bricks for burn chamber and feed tube. the idea of the rocket stove is to push temps high enough to burn all the hydrocarbons up and emit no smoke/particles. one thing you will like is a vertical feed tube. it will allow you to let it go, without feeding, for at least 45min. a lot longer with a bigger 8" system. i have found the rocket stove stuff facinating and am planning an outside heated bench by the fire pit. would love to build a rocket mass system in the garage but insurance reasons make me hesitant. seems no limits with these things! forges-making electricity-heating your water-cooking....... your rocket searches will lead you to all kinds of interesting stuff for sure.
Never seen one before but they look cool!!! RR - good looking stove!!!!!
You know how it is when your lookin' for a place to stop. Ta-da. Finished.
